Quick steps to get RealOne Player up and running so you can listen
to live convention audio broadcasts.
Click on this "Get it now!"
link. A second window will pop up.
On the page that comes up, you are asked if you want to "Save"
or "Open" the file. Choose "Save" and save it
to your computer's desktop. (The name of the file is "RealOne.exe".)
This is a very large download of about eight megabytes (8 MB). On
a typical dialup modem connection such as AOL, it could take as
much as two (2) hours to complete!
Once the download has finished, double click on the "RealOne"
file that was just saved on your desktop in order to begin the installation
process. It will prompt you to choose between "Express"
or "Custom" installation. We recommend "Express Installation".
Also, just press OK or YES if it asks you any questions and it will
install itself into predefined, default directories.
Once the installation is complete, it is always a good idea to
reboot your computer--even though RealOne Player doesn't ask you
to do it.
Once you have rebooted, just open your web brower and go to the
convention web site. On the "Broadcast"
page you will find a "RealONE Launch Now" button to listen
to the convention live using RealOne Player. Just click on the button,
sit back, and enjoy! If the connection does not work, be sure you
are connected during the convention. If the convention is not transmitting
there will be nothing to connect to.
Please be aware that it takes a moment to establish a connection
before you start to hear anything. If there is a problem or the
convention is not broadcasting, you will get an error message in
a few seconds. If you do not get an error, the delay indicates that
your connection is "buffering"--which is completely normal.
